Your mission:

You provide technical support for the completion of specialised maintenance tasks and carry out study and renewal projects in the fields of mechanics related to hydroelectricity. Within the unit and in collaboration with other engineers, you perform tasks and provide technical support in the field of numerical calculations and hydraulic measurements.

Your responsibilities:

• Conduct advanced studies and analyses (simulations, optimisations, verifications) on concrete mechanical and hydraulic issues
• Participate in diagnostics and measurement campaigns on hydroelectric installations
• Develop and implement technical solutions within the framework of major rehabilitation projects for hydroelectric installations
• Strengthen, lead and develop skills in numerical calculations and hydraulic measurements, notably through exchanges and projects with the academic world (HES, Hydro Alps Lab, EPFL, Swiss and European research projects)
• Provide technical support for maintenance and operations managers of various hydroelectric facilities
• Interface with external partners (experts, engineering firms, research laboratories, clients)
• Budget the work to be done, prepare offers and provide technical support for sales
• Manage projects, respecting costs, deadlines and quality
• Keep the technical documentation of the facilities up to date

Your skills:

• EPFL or HES engineer in mechanics or equivalent
• 5 years of experience in industry, including 3 years in hydroelectricity would be a plus
• Knowledge of the dynamics of hydraulic machines
• Good understanding of fluid mechanics and solid mechanics
• Experience in CFD (ideally OpenFoam), FEM would be a plus
• Knowledge of programming or scripting (Python, Matlab, etc.) would be a plus
• Knowledge of ASME Section VIII, EN 13445, BSI 7910 and ISO-20816 standards would be a plus
• Strong organisational skills for managing several projects simultaneously
• Autonomy and rigour, analytical and synthesis skills, initiative
• Interest and availability to work on site (up to 30% of the time)
• Native German or French speaker with very good knowledge of the other language
