Department Head 80 - 100%The Cantonal Social Office with over 250 employees undertakes diverse, controlling and operational tasks primarily in social assistance, social insurance, social services and in the asylum sector at the interface between the federal government, other cantons, cities, municipalities and various private organisations. It also operates its own social institution, tilia in Rheinau, which has over 124 residential and employment places, divided into twelve residential groups and six workshops. It cares for, supports and promotes adults with intellectual and/or psychological disabilities at various locations.
For our highly structured department with 5 residential groups and 4 workshops, we are looking for a
Department Head 80 - 100% from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement.
Your main tasks
- You ensure operational management regarding organisational, personnel and professional tasks
- You lead the directly subordinate team leaders
- You take over the control of the necessary instruments for planning, implementation and monitoring of effective and efficient operational processes
- You are responsible for ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards
- You work closely and constructively with the specialist services
- You develop professional concepts and contribute to the strategic development of the institution
- You are a member of the management team
Your skills and talents
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in the social or social-medical field
- You can demonstrate further training in project or change management
- You have several years of leadership experience in middle to senior management and proven business management knowledge
- You can demonstrate many years of professional experience working with people with intellectual and/or psychological disabilities
- You are an open, engaging personality with proven social skills and a flair for numbers
- You can grasp, analyse and implement complex situations in a solution-oriented manner
- You have excellent oral and written German skills and communicate effortlessly at different levels
- You possess very good knowledge of MS Office – especially Excel applications,
- Proven Polypoint and Lobos knowledge is an advantage
