Head of Main Road Construction Section (General Site Manager)
Technical Office | 80-100 % | Chur
The Technical Office is responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance and operation of cantonal roads, as well as hydraulic structures and slow mobility in Graubünden. In addition, we take care of the operational maintenance of national roads within the canton. The cantonal road infrastructure includes over 1450 structures, including bridges up to 90 metres high and tunnels up to 3 kilometres long. The challenges that the nature of our mountain canton conceals in summer and winter make our work demanding and varied. As an office certified with the Friendly Work Space label, the health and satisfaction of our approximately 480 employees are particularly important to us. For this reason, we are committed to systematic health management in the company (GSA).

Tasks
- Technical responsibility for new construction, expansion and refurbishment projects along the main road network throughout the canton
- Responsibility for project development from a technical perspective, adherence to deadlines and costs, as well as monitoring compliance with quality directives
- General site management for all projects on the canton’s main roads
- Independent management of complex road and civil engineering projects during the publication and implementation phases
- Coordination between design and implementation
- Management of a team of approx. 10 employees consisting of sector managers and local site managers
- Overall responsibility for planning and conducting professional development for all site management employees of the Technical Office
What we expect from you
- Diploma as a civil engineer (BSc, MSc level), construction contractor or equivalent training
- Excellent specialist knowledge and several years of experience in the execution of road and civil engineering projects
- Ability to assert yourself, communication skills and initiative
- Management experience and ability to handle large workloads
- Enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Good IT skills (performance description software, MS Office)
- Good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage
