Caritas Switzerland is committed to a fair asylum procedure for asylum seekers. Since March 1, 2019, on behalf of the State Secretariat for Migration, Caritas Switzerland's legal protection provides free consultation and legal representation services to asylum seekers at the federal centers in the French-speaking region of Switzerland, in partnership with the Swiss Union of Jewish Relief Committees and the Swiss Refugee Aid Organization.
Your tasks
- Preparation and support of asylum seekers (including unaccompanied minors) at the essential stages of the asylum procedure conducted by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM)
- Independent management of cases under the guidance of the team leaders of the legal representation service
- Drafting legal documents and various correspondence related to the asylum procedure
- Analysis and monitoring of practice, case law, and doctrine in relevant legal fields
- Collaboration with accredited Legal Consultation Offices (BCJ) in extended procedure and other specialized internal and external services related to migration
- Updating the database and various administrative tasks related to the role
- Participation in internal meetings and training sessions
Our requirements
- University degree in law (Master of Law or license, bar exam an asset)
- 2 years of professional experience, including 6 months in legal representation
- Knowledge of asylum and migration law
- Knowledge of federal administrative procedure law
- Possible knowledge of juvenile law
- Excellent knowledge of French, spoken and written (level C2) and good knowledge of English (level B2)
- Knowledge of other foreign languages, especially those of the main regions of origin of asylum seekers, is an asset
- Analytical mind and ability to argue both orally and in writing
- Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
- Good stress management and flexibility
- Experience with people from other cultures

Contract start: April 1, 2026 or by agreement
