Job Description
We are currently seeking an Automation Project Engineer (m/f/d) for our multipurpose production site in Muttenz, wo engineer is responsible for planning and coordinating automation resources within a Capex project team organization. This person is also ensuring the link with the site engineering team, and the alignment with technical standards and production/customer requirements.
This includes:
- Leading a part of one or more engineering capital projects; this could be a technical responsibility across a whole project or a cross-functional responsibility for a part or phase of a project, thus ensuring the timely implementation of new or improved assets consistent with business requirements and within cost and safety parameters set by a project manager.
- Managing one or more minor engineering capital projects for automation infrastructure projects
- Providing automation technical leadership for projects
Accountabilities
- Working with a project manager to shape project scope. This often requires holding ambiguity before a project scope is being finalized in a Terms of Reference
- Estimating, executing and tracking costs and physical progress to ensure project delivery meets challenging time constraints and within established cost and safety parameters
- Coordinating the external resources that form a project team
- Identifying, specifying and monitoring the implementation of appropriate standards for engineering for design, procurement and construction to ensure compliance with company policy, local regulations and assets that are fit for purpose
- Producing an engineering definition package, fully describing the technical, process and operational requirements of the asset to be built and subsequently developing a detailed design which meets project success criteria
Other technical accountabilities:
- Planning of automation activities according project plan expectation milestones and scope
- Identifying and managing automation resources tasks plan
- Managing daily an automation programmers' team. (Documenting, developing software, ensuring quality, solving issues, monitoring weekly progress, reviewing with Process & Production team)
- Supporting the project manager to update the global project plan, reviewing weekly progress, workload, priorities and reviewing the scope changes
- Creating Software Design Specification (SDS) for CM, ME and Phases according site standards, user requirements (Process & Production) and Process Risk Analysis outputs (PRA)
- Organizing and managing FAT activities (Planning, documenting readiness & quality, resourcing, listing to-dos, validating)
- Supporting commissioning team (Planning, troubleshooting, improving/optimizing, changing) and production team for Recipe creation. Managing handover to Site engineering team & Production team
- Being responsible for Software design, testing, FAT Software + Hardware and SAT
- Supporting start-up of process control and safety system
Qualifications
- Technical degree in Automation Engineering
- At least 5 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in the chemical/pharmaceutical industry and with support of DeltaV systems.
- Experience in building a new DeltaV Class Library: Unit, Phase, EQM, Control Module Level
- Several years of experience with IEC 61131 (Programming languages for programmable controllers), IEC 61512 (Batch Management) and Control System
- Knowledge of fieldbus systems and industrial networks, including: Profibus, HART or Foundation Fieldbus. Interfaces with package units
- Experience in technical change documentation and risk analysis
- In-depth knowledge of modern standards and current trends in process automation
- Document change management of the Functional Specifications (FS) and Software design specification
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and structured working approach
- Capability to handle complex technical challenges in a goal-oriented manner
- Adaptability to new situations and flexibility
- High level of German and minimum conversational level of English
- Willingness to work in a chemical production environment
