About the job
For over 70 years, the CSP has been active in Geneva promoting solidarity, dignity and social justice. Created in 1986, the Atelier Galiffe is now a recognised facility within the Geneva social and health network. With nearly forty years of experience in welcoming people in situations of social vulnerability, it is about to take a new step in its development.
As part of the opening of a new day centre in spring 2027, we are recruiting
Social Animators (3 permanent positions at 60-70%)
Our second day centre will open its doors in April 2027 at rue de la Cartouchière, Plan-les-Ouates. It will offer a meeting place, a place for refreshment and participation intended for people experiencing social and/or psychological difficulties. Through craft, creative and relational activities, it will promote social connection. Everyone will be able to find a space where they feel welcomed, respected in their autonomy and free to be themselves.
Your mission
As a social animator, you will bring to life a welcoming, listening and activity space, non-medicalised, open and accessible. You ensure that everyone finds their place there, respecting their history, pace and resources. You propose activities adapted to the desires and abilities of the participants, favouring the pleasure of doing, without seeking performance or competition. You contribute to making the centre a warm place, open to free attendance, where everyone can participate in their own way.
Your main responsibilities
- Welcome participants and facilitate their integration.
- Design, organise and lead craft, creative, artistic, culinary or gardening activities adapted to the desires and abilities of the participants.
- Listen to participants, take into account their requests and suggestions, support and guide them, when necessary, towards partners and services in the network.
- Participate in the preparation and opening of the new day centre.
- Collaborate with the existing centre team to ensure consistency of practices and contribute to the development of the project within a logic of shared values and co-construction, and participate in common reflections as well as wider team dynamics.
- Participate in organisational reflections, represent the centre with partners and collaborate with volunteers, substitute animators, and other CSP services.
Your professional profile
We are looking for professionals wishing to put their relational skills as well as their creative, artistic or craft know-how at the service of people.
- Holder of a diploma in social work, community or sociocultural animation (or certifying training to be completed during employment).
- Training or skills in one or more artistic, craft, manual or creative fields (wood, textiles, visual arts, DIY, gardening, recycling, etc.) and ability to share them with participants.
- Proven experience and interpersonal skills with people in situations of social and/or psychological vulnerability. Ability to build a trusting relationship with sometimes very fragile people.
- Excellent listening, adaptability and innovation skills, with good emotional resilience.
- Field knowledge of the Geneva social network.
- Project management experience desired.
- Enjoyment of fieldwork, group animation and both individual and collective relationships.
- Ability to understand and support group dynamics, as well as to prevent and manage tensions and conflict situations.
- Team spirit, autonomy and organisational skills.
Why join us?
You will participate in the creation of a new day reception centre and the formation of a complete team of three animators. These two dimensions will be built together, in an exciting project where creativity, manual work and human relationships will occupy a central place. In close connection with the existing centre team and the service manager, you will be fully involved in the various challenges related to this opening: installation and fitting out of the new premises, building team dynamics, creating links with the building's social partners and various beneficiaries, developing relationships with the neighbourhood social network, as well as collective reflection on ways to make the new Atelier attractive, visible and welcoming.
