Head Nurse of the Care Unit - Continuous Internal Medicine Care
To complete its team, the Department of Medicine at CHUV is seeking a Head Nurse of the Care Unit (ICUS) for the continuous internal medicine care service at a workload between 80% and 100%. The start date is planned for 1 September 2026 or to be agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a reference role in the fields of medical care, training, and clinical research.
The intermediate care unit of the internal medicine service aims to provide highly specialised care and close monitoring to ensure the safety of patients who do not present vital failure.
This intermediate care unit for medicine includes 16 beds and 44 FTEs (nurses and support staff).
Mission
- You ensure efficient and safe patient care
- You lead the nursing team of your unit with commitment and exemplary conduct
- You collaborate in the management of the service with your hierarchy and interdisciplinary managers
- You supervise training, teaching, and research activities in nursing
- You ensure the link between your unit and the service management.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with mandatory Red Cross recognition for foreign diplomas
- You have an EPD diploma in Intensive Care, Anaesthesiology, or Emergency Care (required)
- You have completed a proximity management training (≥ 300 hours) or a CAS in management (imperative)
- You have at least 5 years of experience in adult acute care
- You possess strong management and supervisory skills
- You are recognised for your leadership, organisational skills, and analytical abilities
- You are dynamic, with initiative, openness, and decisiveness
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- You are proficient with the IT tools used at CHUV
- You master spoken and written French (level B2)
- Ideally, you have knowledge of a second national language and/or English.
Depending on the profile, the salary class will be 10 or 11.
