Nurse
General mission of the position
By personally adhering to the care philosophy of the EMS in Meyrin, the nurse provides personalised care to residents with an attitude of openness, flexibility and respect for the elderly person and their family. Their work with residents differs from that carried out in hospital settings by prioritising the wishes and habits of elderly people living at home in the residence. They consider family members and close ones as partners with whom good collaboration is fundamental. They collaborate with all their colleagues in the residences in a creative and exchange-oriented spirit.
Main activities
- Provision of care:
Offer and guarantee individualised care to the resident, taking into account physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, social and cultural needs.

- Decide and perform nursing care.
- Apply medical prescriptions in collaboration with the pharmacy and consult the attending physician if necessary.
- Respect the general therapeutic instructions given by the attending physician.
- Supervise and guide nursing assistants, ASSC and ASE in the performance of their tasks.
- Establish the care plan with the resident, involving their relatives when useful.
- Collaborate closely with the IRUS by sharing any relevant information or observations to ensure comprehensive quality care and good harmony within the multidisciplinary team.
- Actively participate in team reflection to continuously improve the quality of care and support.
- Foster, through their attitude, the fulfilment of residents and colleagues, and maintain the notion of pleasure in daily work.
- Contribute to good interdepartmental relations (hospitality, administration, support, technical) and encourage cooperation.
- Engage in the overall life projects of residents, in connection with families, relatives and medico-social partners.
- Responsibilities and representations:
- Respect the standards, directives and procedures provided for the proper management of their activity.
- Demonstrate discretion and confidentiality in all circumstances.
- Be strictly bound by professional and functional secrecy.
- React in all circumstances according to the accompaniment philosophy of the residences.
- Keep residents' files (DIR) up to date in relation to care activities.
Profile sought
Training and required profile
- Swiss or foreign nursing diploma and Red Cross recognition.
- Experience in geriatrics and/or psychiatry desired.
- Professional and personal skills:
- French: Minimum level C1.
- IT: Proficiency in common office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), knowledge of Sadies DIR software.
- Autonomy.
- Adaptability.
- Attention, empathetic listening, respect, understanding and humanity towards residents, families, colleagues.
- Ability to demonstrate a professional and positive mindset in all circumstances.
