The State Chancellery is the staff office of the Cantonal Council and government. The Service for Political Rights plans and organizes, in cooperation with various partners, the federal and cantonal elections and referendums in the canton of St. Gallen.
We are looking for a
Clerk Political Rights (m/f/d)
Starting March 1, 2026 or by arrangement
Workload: 60-80%
Workplace: St. Gallen
What to expect
- Diverse administrative and professional tasks in the preparation and execution of elections and referendums, in the verification of signatures for cantonal initiatives and referendums, as well as in responding to external inquiries
- Independent management of the voting register for Swiss citizens abroad including correspondence with Swiss representations abroad
- Participation in the counting of votes on election and referendum Sundays
- Independent preparation of official publications and government decisions
What distinguishes you
- Completed commercial training (EFZ) and several years of professional experience, ideally in public administration
- Interest in political processes and procedures
- Experience in the field of political rights (e.g., work in a municipal voting office) is an advantage
- Independent, efficient, and very precise working style as well as composure in hectic situations
- Familiarity with digital applications and affinity for numbers
- Confident German language skills in speaking and writing; knowledge of French and Italian is an advantage
- Willingness to work on weekends (4–5 times per year)
