The Hospital Network Appenzell Ausserrhoden, with the acute hospital Herisau and the Psychiatric Centre AR in Herisau, ensures extended basic medical care for the population in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population in the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care within the canton and beyond.
We are looking for
In the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy under the nursing management of Mr Sven Lang, we are seeking a deputy head of nursing service with a workload of 80% from 1 September 2026 or by arrangement.
Your tasks
- Representing the head of nursing service during their absence
- Active participation in the further development of nursing services at the PZA
- Supporting nursing staff while considering the available personnel resources
- Enforcing and reviewing applicable regulations and standards as well as evidence-based, patient-oriented psychiatric care
- Leadership development of ward management, ensuring health-promoting framework conditions
- Promoting the active involvement of all persons involved in the treatment process and fostering constructive collaboration
- Co-responsibility for achieving budget and occupancy targets
- Participation in overarching tasks, working and project groups, and representing assigned wards in various committees
- Co-responsibility for the implementation of internal concepts
Your profile
- You have completed training as a qualified nurse (Dipl. Pflegefachfrau / Dipl. Pflegefachmann HF/FH) or as a health and nursing professional with Swiss recognition
- You have several years of experience in psychiatric nursing
- You already have leadership experience
- You demonstrate organisational skills, are a resilient and flexible personality, and possess interconnected and cross-departmental thinking
- You find it easy to prioritise tasks even in hectic situations and are committed to maintaining nursing staff job satisfaction
- As a role model, you are empathetic, calm, dedicated, and assertive
- An independent and responsible working style completes your profile
