As R&D Program Manager/Release Manager, youare responsible forthe delivery ofdecisiveinnovations to the marketin time, within budget,and at quality.You will be leading key development projectsonIoTfielddevicesfor the Building Automation market,requiringbroadexpertisewiththe developmentofhardware, firmware,andsoftwarebased ondigitalplatforms.This role requires operational leadershipcombinedwith strategic oversightto deliver high quality,scalable productsfulfillingstate-of-the-artcybersecurity requirements. Asa key leader in theproduct line, you will be working withour global teams anddifferent stakeholders likeproductmanagersand product managementleaders, enterprise architects,R&D leaders, finance controlling, procurement, and manufacturing.
Location: this role will be based in Zug/Switzerland. Please note that qualifiedexternalcandidates need to be legally eligible for work authorization in Switzerland.
Your new responsibilities
- Lead and drive cross-disciplinary R&D programs with distributed, international teams in Asia and Europe, end-to-end, i.e., from resource planning to successful market launch
- Ensure the timeliness, project cost adherence, and quality of the projects you coordinate. Identify, handle, and mitigate potential deviations proactively and constructively with all relevant collaborators
- Ensure alignment, seamless collaboration and transparent communication between all relevant stakeholders, enabling the project team to identify and resolve potential issues and concerns effectively
- Develop and consistently maintain program plans, including detailed timelines, budgets, milestones, and resource allocation; proactively handle changes and dependencies
- Drive quality gate checks and milestone reviews with scrutiny, ensuring the project stays on track
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the program, taking prompt action to resolve issues and maintain momentum
- Regularly report program progress, achievements, and challenges to all stakeholders, delivering clear and actionable updates
- Nurture the right way of working and culture within the R&D team, encouraging creative problem-solving, highly efficient execution, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ensure strict adherence to both internal Siemens policies and relevant industry standards and regulations
- Contribute to strategic technology decisions and the development of the long-term product roadmap, identifying emerging trends and opportunities in smart building technologies
Your talents and experience
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience managing R&D programs or projects, with demonstrable success, preferably in the fields of building automation, IoT, or smart infrastructure
- Outstanding leadership skills, capable of inspiring and guiding diverse teams in a fast-paced, international environment
- Proven experience with agile and traditional project management frameworks and tools
- Experience of full product lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, operation, etc.
- Solid understanding of smart building systems, digitalization, cybersecurity requirements, and sustainability trends
- Experience in managing OEM projects is a plus
- Ability to think strategically while maintaining strong attention to detail and operational execution
- “Can-do” attitude and solution-oriented mentality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; business fluency in English is essential, proficiency in German and/or Mandarin is a plus
