Head of Refugee Specialist Unit
Refugees face major challenges after their arrival in Switzerland. Caritas Zurich pools existing resources to support the integration of refugees; this complements the existing legal structures of the canton and is coordinated especially with the Reformed Church of the canton. We operate the Refugee Specialist Unit on behalf of the Catholic Church in the canton of Zurich.
Due to a personnel change, we are looking for a committed Head of Refugee Specialist Unit (80%) from 1 October 2026 or by arrangement.
Your tasks
- Management and further development of the Refugee Specialist Unit
- Collaboration with parishes/church communities and the communications office of the Synodal Council
- Planning and implementation of training offers and information events
- Networking with local cooperation partners
- Internal collaboration with other departments at Caritas Zurich
- Implementation of the "zäme da" project within the framework of the Zurich Integration Agenda (limited until 2027, option for continuation) in a co-project management role
- Documentation of activities and reporting to the steering committee of the Refugee Specialist Unit
- Internal and external communication, cooperation especially with Catholic communications offices
Our requirements
You bring experience and have knowledge in transcultural processes. Additionally, you are characterised by high social competence, organisational flair, as well as the ability to delegate and coordinate processes. Furthermore, you bring the following:
- Social work or comparable training with a focus on socio-cultural animation, community work, project management
- High communication skills, possibly further training in intercultural communication
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Experience in voluntary work and in the integration sector (with migrants and/or in the asylum field)
- Competences in adult education
- Knowledge of church structures in the canton of Zurich
- Basic knowledge of the asylum procedure and the legal foundations in the Asylum Act as well as in the Foreigners and Integration Act
The workplace is Zurich.
Start of work: 01.10.2026 or by arrangement.
