Attached to the Medical and Quality Directorate of the HUG, the Infection Prevention and Control Service is responsible for implementing: (1) surveillance and prevention of healthcare-associated infections; (2) detection, investigation, and control of epidemic nosocomial infections; (3) control of multi-resistant microorganism resistance; (4) training, teaching, and education of healthcare staff in this field.
Job Description
As a clinical nurse specialist, you play a role as a reference expert in infection prevention and control. You actively contribute to the continuous improvement of practices, patient safety, and quality of care.
You exercise recognized clinical expertise in infection prevention and control.
You participate in epidemiological surveillance as well as the implementation and monitoring of quality indicators.
You conduct and coordinate professional practice audits.
You develop, update, and disseminate procedures and recommendations.
You evaluate practices, propose improvements, and actively participate in the quality approach.
You develop, implement, and evaluate institutional projects aimed at reducing infectious risks.
You integrate evidence-based data into clinical practice in close collaboration with professionals from various departments.
You train, supervise, and support teams in developing their skills.
You support professionals in managing complex situations.
You collaborate closely with all healthcare professionals.
You promote a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
You are a committed person, demonstrating a strong interest in infection prevention and control, motivated by quality of care, and possessing solid clinical experience.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science HES-SO in nursing or an equivalent Bachelor-level recognition.
You have a certified training in infection prevention, such as EPIAS or an equivalent qualification.
A Master’s degree in nursing sciences, a MAS in public health, or equivalent training is expected, or you have the capacity to engage in one of these programs.
You have a minimum of five years of professional experience, ideally complemented by experience in intensive care.
You possess theoretical and/or practical knowledge in sterilization, microbiology, and medical devices. You master quality approaches as well as risk analysis tools.
You have developed confirmed skills in project management, participation in working groups, and quality program management.
Finally, you master common computer tools and have an English level equivalent to B2.

You have excellent communication skills and know how to adapt your speech to your different interlocutors.
You are able to design and deploy training programs in infection prevention and control, ensure clinical supervision, and support teams in evolving their practices.

You demonstrate critical analytical thinking and methodological rigor.
You take responsibility and are able to make informed decisions within your field of expertise.
You are comfortable managing complex situations and promote constructive interdisciplinary collaboration focused on solutions.
You adopt a reflective stance that supports practice analysis and continuous improvement.
You demonstrate organization, autonomy, and know how to prioritize your activities effectively.
Finally, you show resilience and good stress management, even in high-demand contexts.
