Supervisor / Caregiver, fixed-term 80 - 100%The Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Institution (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe and, with 399 places, the largest closed JVA in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialisation of incarcerated persons and the protection of the public.
For our short-term imprisonment (KSV), we are looking for a committed and team-oriented person as a supervisor / caregiver to start immediately or by arrangement. The position is fixed-term until 31 July 2027.
This is your field of activity
- You care for, occupy and accompany incarcerated persons within the framework of daily structures and are their contact person for concerns
- Together with the team, you ensure an orderly daily routine, consistently implement safety and service regulations, and recognise critical situations early
- You accompany leisure and group activities with the incarcerated persons
- Administrative tasks such as writing reports and documenting events complete your varied range of duties
What you bring with you
- A completed education with a federal vocational certificate (EFZ), (specialist) Matura, specialised middle school certificate or an equivalent qualification
- Very good German language skills in spoken and written form as well as ideally knowledge of another language
- Confident handling of the MS Office suite
- The necessary mental and physical resilience as well as the willingness to work at changing times (on-call and weekend duties)
- An impeccable reputation (no entries in the debt enforcement and criminal record) and a minimum age of 25 years
