Patient Care Internship - Preparatory Internship

The patient care internship - preparatory internship is exclusively intended for first and second year medical students or future medical students.

Context

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.

Mission

• The patient care internship - preparatory internship is exclusively intended for first and second year medical students or future medical students. It allows them to get acquainted with the hospital environment by familiarizing themselves with basic care. This preparatory internship, mandatory for FBM students at UNIL, must be completed before the end of the 2nd year. Its objective is to put the future doctor in early contact with patients, to allow them to deepen human relationships, and to give them the opportunity to carefully consider their decision to become a doctor.

Profile

• You are a medical student and must complete a preparatory internship required by your university
• You are at least 18 years old
• You have proficiency in French (B2 spoken and written)
• You are available for a full month, starting from the first day of the month
• You are available to work day and evening shifts as well as 2 to 3 weekends per month for a 41.5-hour workweek
• The months of July and August are exclusively reserved for FBM students at UNIL, or future FBM students at UNIL, residing in the canton of Vaud.

• A 3-day theoretical and practical integration program organized by our Training Center
• A flat-rate remuneration of CHF 1,041.25 (13th salary included - 2025 value)

• For interns living outside Lausanne, furnished accommodations can be rented from CHUV
• Work clothes are lent and laundered free of charge. We also kindly ask you to bring comfortable and quiet shoes reserved exclusively for work.
