La Faculté de médecine de l'Université de Genève bénéficie d'une dynamique multiculturelle enrichissante à laquelle elle contribue par son rayonnement dans le cadre des mandats qu'elle s'est donnés : l'enseignement, la recherche et son partenariat avec les Hôpitaux universitaires de Genève (HUG).

Afin de renforcer son équipe, le Département de psychiatrie de l'Université de Genève recherche un/une

Collaborateur/rice scientifique 2

au sein du groupe Psychopathologie clinique et expérimentale .

La recherche du groupe est centrée sur le thème des symptômes négatifs de la schizophrénie et des autres troubles mentaux graves. Ces symptômes incluent l'apathie (une diminution de la motivation) et une diminution de l'expressivité. Ils ont des conséquences délétères sur le fonctionnement des patients et les options pour leur traitement restent très limitées. L'objectif des recherches est de mieux comprendre les processus motivationnels et cognitifs qui causent ces symptômes afin de développer de nouveaux traitements. Dans ce but, nous utilisons des outils de psychopathologie clinique, des expériences comportementales et l'imagerie de résonance magnétique fonctionnelle. Les résultats de ces recherches fournissent la base pour le développement et l'évaluation de nouvelles approches thérapeutiques incluant la stimulation cérébrale non-invasive et la psychothérapie.

Le/la candidat-e sélectionné-e sera responsable de la coordination du projet « Apathy and social withdrawal in schizophrenia : A collaborative study on the impact of psychotherapeutic treatments on the fronto-striatal networks of motivation, social interactions and adapted behaviours. » soutenu par le Fonds National Suisse et l'Agence Nationale de Recherche en France. Dans le sous-projet à Genève nous évaluons les effets du Programme Emotions Positives (PEPS) pour la Schizophrénie aux niveaux clinique, comportemental et neuronal. La coordination concerne le site de Genève (recrutement, supervision de l'évaluation clinique et des expériences IRMf, data management) et toutes les interactions avec les équipes au sein du CNRS Lyon (Pr Tremblay) et des Hôpitaux Universitaires de Lyon (Pr Franck) et de St. Etienne (Pr Fakra).

Titre et compétences exigés

Le/la candidats-e doit être titulaire d'un Doctorat ou équivalent en neurosciences, psychologie ou une autre discipline associée.

Il/elle est au bénéfice d'une expérience d'au moins cinq ans après le doctorat dans la recherche scientifique documenté dans des publications de haut niveau. Dans ce cadre, une expérience de recherche confirmée avec des patients souffrant d'une schizophrénie (incluant l'utilisation des échelles cliniques) et avec l'imagerie fonctionnelle (IRMf) du système de récompense sont essentielles.

De plus, le/la candidat-e dispose d'excellentes compétences en communication et en organisation ainsi qu'une expérience avec des collaborations internationales.

Un niveau de C1 est attendu pour le français et l'anglais (parlé et écrit).

Job description

To strengthen its dynamic team, the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Geneva is seeking a

Senior Research Associate

within the Clinical and Experimental Psychopathology group .

The group's research focuses on the theme of negative symptoms in schizophrenia and other severe mental disorders. These symptoms include apathy (a decrease in motivation) and diminished expression. They have a detrimental impact on patients' functioning and treatment options remain limited. The goal of the research is to better understand the motivational and cognitive processes that cause these symptoms and to develop new treatments. To achieve this, we use clinical psychopathology tools, behavioral experiments, and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). The results of this research provide the foundation for the development and evaluation of new therapeutic approaches, including non-invasive brain stimulation and psychotherapy.

The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating the project "Apathy and social withdrawal in schizophrenia: A collaborative study on the impact of psychotherapeutic treatments on the fronto-striatal networks of motivation, social interactions, and adapted behaviors." This project is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the French National Research Agency. In the Geneva sub-project, we are evaluating the effects of the Positive Emotions Program (PEPS) for Schizophrenia at clinical, behavioral, and neural levels. The coordination concerns the Geneva site (recruitment, supervision of clinical evaluation and fMRI experiments, data management) and all interactions with teams at CNRS Lyon (Prof. Tremblay), University Hospitals of Lyon (Prof. Franck), and St. Etienne (Prof. Fakra).

Required Qualifications and Skills

The candidate must hold a PhD or equivalent in neurosciences, psychology, or another related discipline.

They should have at least five years of post-PhD experience in scientific research, documented in high-level publications.

In this context, confirmed research experience with patients suffering from schizophrenia (including the use of clinical scales) and with functional imaging (fMRI) of the reward system is essential. In addition, the candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills as well as experience with international collaborations.

A C1 level in both French and English (spoken and written) is required.
