At the Clinic for Equine Medicine of the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich, a senior physician position (60-100%) in Equine Internal Medicine is to be filled from July 2026 or by arrangement.
Requirements:
Veterinarian with a doctorate (Dr. med. vet. or equivalent)
Completed residency program (board eligible) or board certification in Large Animal Internal Medicine (ACVIM) and/or Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM)
The candidate should be a team player and have sufficient clinical experience in the field of equine internal medicine. Furthermore, good communication skills and a high motivation for service, teaching, and training of interns and residents are required.
Fluency in German (spoken and written) and English is mandatory.
Responsibilities:
Clinical work in the field of internal medicine (including neonatology, emergency and intensive care)
Theoretical and practical training of students, assistant veterinarians, interns, residents (ACVIM / ECEIM), and graduate students as well as active participation in continuing education events for veterinarians
Emergency service at night and on weekends (on-call duty, including standby duty during foal season)
Representing the Clinic for Equine Medicine through interaction with clients, referring veterinarians, other faculty members, clinicians, colleagues from pre- and paraclinical institutes, students, external research groups, visitors, and industry representatives
Active participation in the future development of the Clinic for Equine Medicine, taking on committee work and assisting with necessary administrative tasks
Own research activities within the framework of personal academic interests
Salary/Employment:
The employment is based on university standards for senior physicians of the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich, taking into account education and experience.
