Carpenter 80 - 100%Justice Enforcement and Reintegration (JuWe) is an authority of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and employs around 1,400 staff from diverse professions. JuWe primarily is responsible for the enforcement of court rulings and the execution of pre-trial detention. For the authority's employees, preventing recidivism and the successful social reintegration of offenders is of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialisation of incarcerated persons and the protection of the public.
In the area of Economy and Work, we are looking for a resilient personality with high social competence for the carpenter four-person team from 1 June 2026 or by arrangement.
Your responsibilities with us
- Responsibility for the vocational training of several inmates with individual support and targeted promotion in everyday training
- Active participation in daily business including quality controls as well as organisation and coordination of operational processes
- Planning and implementation of work preparation with forward-looking, independent and efficient working methods
- Professional guidance of inmates to specifically promote their craft skills and social competence
- Regular, honest and transparent feedback on work and behaviour as well as documentation of professional and personal development
- Contribution of expertise and practical experience in the execution of customer orders
- Assumption of supervisory and security duties as well as active service in the company fire brigade with a sense of responsibility and team spirit
What you bring – and what is important to us
- Completed training as a carpenter EFZ with a specialisation in furniture and interior construction
- Several years of professional experience in the workshop and confident handling of stationary large machines
- Experience in supervising apprentices or inmates and enjoyment of working with people
- Open, resilient and team-oriented personality with a respectful and positive attitude towards offenders
- Willingness for professional development including training as a correctional officer. A trainer qualification is ideally present or will be acquired during the activity
- Clear and professional expression in German, both spoken and written. Additional language skills are an advantage
- Confident handling of MS Office 365 and the CAD program CAD+T
- Calm and focused working style even in demanding situations
- Minimum age of 28 years, preferably older
- Impeccable character (no entries in criminal and debt registers)
