As a FinOps Service Manager (Azure), you are responsible for optimizing cloud costs and promoting financially forward-looking use of Azure services throughout the company. You operate at the intersection of financial control within IT and ensure that cloud expenses are transparent and strategically managed. The role includes a clearly defined area of responsibility that you independently and proactively develop further.
Your area of responsibility
- You develop and implement a company-wide Azure FinOps strategy and analyze and optimize cost structures as well as Azure usage, identify savings potentials, and create forecasts for individual departments.
- You build dashboards for cost control and user allocation and continuously maintain them, for example with Azure Cost Management (Power BI), ensuring that costs are correctly allocated and defining distribution keys for shared resources such as Azure Kubernetes Services.
- You coordinate incident and problem management, including escalations to Microsoft.
- You monitor compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and coordinate contract issues with the sourcing team, including penalty handling, and lead the monthly service board with the IT service managers.
- You maintain and further develop the internal Azure service catalog, including the service roadmap, announcements, and phase-outs.
- You also actively participate in the strategic planning of cloud migrations.
- You regularly coordinate with the sourcing team on topics such as Azure consumption, marketplace offerings, true-up, and license management, and support the creation of cost calculations and business cases for new services and projects.
Your strengths
- You have a completed university degree in computer science, business informatics, business administration, or a comparable qualification.
- You already bring solid experience with Microsoft Azure, especially in the areas of cost management, governance, and reporting.
- You are characterized by knowledge of FinOps principles as well as experience in optimizing cloud costs.
- You are ideally familiar with tools such as Azure Cost Management and Power BI.
- You stand out through analytical thinking, high initiative, and a structured way of working.
- You convince with pronounced communication and collaboration skills.
- Very good German and English skills, both spoken and written, complete your profile.
