About the job

Your main missions will be as follows:

• Conduct quasi-experimental analyses (regression discontinuity, instrumental variables) of the impact of education and retirement policies on cognition and dementia risk;
• Harmonise and link public policy data to longitudinal ageing surveys (SHARE, ELSA, HRS, etc.);
• Contribute to the construction of a cognitive stimulation index based on occupational trajectories (ISCO, O*NET, ESCO);
• Contribute to the collection and documentation of Swiss cantonal education policies;
• Write and publish scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals and present results at international conferences;
• Follow the doctoral programme and training of the SSPH+ Inter-Graduate Campus;
• Participate actively in the life of the sector and contribute to the activities of the Lausanne Center for Health Economics, Behaviour and Policy (LCHE).

Your assets:

• Master's degree in economics, econometrics or quantitative social sciences, or in a related discipline with a strong quantitative component (e.g. public health, epidemiology, demography, statistics, political science, education sciences);
• Excellent command of quantitative and econometric methods; experience with causal inference methods (regression discontinuity, instrumental variables, difference-in-differences);
• Interest or expertise in the field of education or retirement policies is a particular asset;
• Proficiency in a statistical software package (e.g. Stata, R or Python);
• Experience analysing longitudinal survey data (e.g. SHARE, ELSA, HRS) is an asset;
• Excellent oral and written skills in English; knowledge of French, German or Italian is an asset;
• Ability to analyse complex data and draw clear and relevant conclusions;
• Initiative, autonomy and scientific rigour; strong interest in research on ageing and public policies;
• Organisational skills, respect for deadlines and a strong taste for collaborative work.
