The Burger Library is a public-scientific archive. It collects and makes accessible numerous valuable and internationally significant collections of manuscripts, archival materials, and image documents. In addition, the Burger Library is the archive of the Burgergemeinde Bern and the bourgeois societies and guilds.

You work in an organized manner, keep an overview even with diverse tasks, and appreciate contact with people. In the secretariat as well as in the reading room of our archive, you take on versatile administrative tasks. In doing so, you warmly and service-orientedly welcome and support visitors and users.
These are your tasks
- Reception and support of visitors and users in the secretariat and reading room
- Telephone and information service as well as handling of written inquiries
- Administrative support of the management and general secretarial work
- Administration of photo and reproduction orders including scans, offers, and invoicing
- Organization and coordination of internal processes and small team service deployments
- Collaboration in the reading room: user advice, research support, ordering system, and supervision
- Compliance with the user regulations and safety in the reading room
- Preparatory library work and cataloging by arrangement
- Collaboration on projects and events of the Burger Library, especially in public relations

- Experience in the secretariat area, ideally complemented by knowledge in archival or library work
- Interest in historical collections and cultural institutions
- Organizational skills as well as structured and independent working style
- Enjoyment in dealing with customers and pronounced service orientation
- Balanced personality with confident appearance
- Very good German skills, knowledge of English and French desirable
