Technical Staff Member in Insect Taxonomy and Biodiversity Research 60% (m/f/d)
As part of a recently funded international SNF-WEAVE project, the research unit "Forest Health and Biotic Interactions" and its group " Forest Entomology " offer a fixed-term position from April 2026 for 2 years (with option for extension) as
You will support the project team in conducting fieldwork in a large-scale field experiment in Germany, where insect diversity in tree canopies is recorded. You will sort the collected insects by family and identify selected families to species level. You will be responsible for organizing the multi-day fieldwork in Germany and assist in its execution. Additionally, you will support insect behavior experiments, take care of our insect cultures, and perform leaf damage assessments.
You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in forest, natural, or environmental sciences and have excellent expertise in insect taxonomy and systematics. Experience with insect sampling and monitoring as well as intensive fieldwork is an advantage. You work carefully, have organizational talent, and are a flexible, team-oriented, and communicative personality. Essential requirements are that you enjoy working at the microscope as well as in the field (also under adverse weather conditions). Furthermore, you possess a category B driving license (CH) and have good oral and written skills in German and/or English.
