The Office for Spatial Development and Geoinformation (AREG) is responsible for spatial development policy, official surveying, and the provision of geoinformation. Building outside of construction zones is a sub-area of spatial development.
In the Department for Building Outside Construction Zones (BaB), we assess all building applications located outside construction zones (e.g., in agricultural zones or protected zones) and check them for compliance with the Federal Act on Spatial Planning. We take the lead in the material-legal coordination within the cantonal administration. We see ourselves as a service provider, which is why advising applicants and municipalities is an important part of our work.
