Aarau, as the cantonal capital - centrally located between Zurich, Basel, and Bern - is an important economic, cultural, and educational center with a supraregional influence. As a future-oriented and modern employer, the City of Aarau relies on motivated employees.
The Society Section of the Social Services Department is looking for an intern starting August 1, 2026, for 6 or 12 months.
The City of Aarau operates a comprehensive range of services in the field of child and youth promotion
(Youth center Wenk, outreach youth work, Ü16 youth center in the youth culture house,
children's construction site and children's programs in the neighborhoods, as well as various projects).
You will support the team in the open operation of the youth center Wenk and accompany young people in the daily life of open youth work. In doing so, you contribute to creating an open, low-threshold, and safe leisure and meeting space and are available to the young people as a contact person. You actively participate in the planning, organization, and implementation of leisure activities, projects, and events. In addition, you support young people in creative, sporting, and participatory activities. You contribute to the daily team routine, take on simple administrative and organizational tasks, and gain insight into conceptual and pedagogical work processes. The experiences gained are regularly reflected upon in exchange with the professionals.
You are studying at a university of applied sciences or college of higher education in sociocultural animation, social work, or social pedagogy. You enjoy working in a team and in direct contact especially with young people aged between 11 and 16 years. You are open-minded and maintain open communication. Creativity and interest in social media are an advantage.
We offer contemporary working conditions, equal opportunities, insights into various
specialist areas within the Society Section, and a pleasant working atmosphere in a
committed team.
Your questions will be answered by Talita Friess, Head of the Youth Center Wenk and Practical Instructor, 079 848 65 23, or Samuel Hasler, Team Leader Open Offers for Children and Youth, 079 469 91 72.
We look forward to receiving your application.
