For every child, the right to a Champion
The Division of Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) in Geneva works to deliver results for children by maximizing UNICEF’s private fundraising, partnerships, and engagement—especially through National Committees (NatComs). Within PFP, the National Committee Relations Section ensures strategic alignment between NatComs and UNICEF through Joint Strategic Planning (JSP), manages relationships and risks, and acts as the primary liaison with NatCom Executive Directors and Board Chairs.
How can you make a difference?
The role described supports the Deputy Director, National Committee Relations by coordinating and strengthening UNICEF–NatCom relationships through communication, analysis, and facilitation. It provides tailored support to National Committees, tracks agreed follow-up actions, and helps connect NatComs with the wider UNICEF system to enhance their contribution to UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, particularly in high-income countries.
1. Facilitates good working relationships and provides strategic support to Committees so that UNICEF maximizes the value of these relationships while preserving the reputation of the organization.
2.Manages the Joint Strategic (JSP) development process and annual JSP review process, ensuring coherent, harmonized alignment of strategic priorities within the JSPs and JSP reviews. Provides quality assurance to JSP and monitors JSP results. Ensures coordination across UNICEF teams (within PFP and in other Divisions and Regional Offices), and between UNICEF teams and NatComs to optimize and harmonize UNICEF interaction with the National Committees.
3.Engages in risk management with the National Committees through facilitation of crisis prevention or crisis management in cases of issues of potential non alignment with UNICEF policies and strategies or non respect of the Cooperation Agreement between UNICEF and the National Committees.
4.Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis on a broad range of available data and information, and advises the Deputy Director National Committee Relations on identified issues, opportunities, risks and challenges and recommends required corrective actions. Manages and shares knowledge as appropriate.
5.Monitors and coordinates the Cooperation Agreement compliance process and implements agreed actions.
6.Undertakes regular visits to National Committee territories to contribute to discussions and negotiations at mid and senior levels with colleagues in National Committees.
Under the guidance of the Deputy Director National Committee Relations, coordinates and facilitates the relationship with National Committees (NatComs) with the aim of maximizing the potential and effectiveness of UNICEF’s presence in High Income Countries and increasing the contribution of NatComs to the achievement of UNICEF’s Strategic Plans .
This post is responsible for supporting the Deputy Director National Committee Relations in managing the relationship with Committees through efficient internal and external communication, coordination, facilitation, qualitative and quantitative analysis and implementing measures to improve the relationship between UNICEF and National Committees.
The incumbent gains in-depth knowledge of the National Committees he/she works with in order to provide accurate and up-to-date information and analysis to the Deputy Director National Committee Relations that will lead to the development and delivery of tailored support. The incumbent will be responsible for following up on support committed to the National Committees and to facilitate interactions between the National Committees and the rest of the UNICEF ecosystem.

Minimum requirements:
- Education: Advanced University degree in any of the following: Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Fundraising, Public Administration, International Relations and Development Studies. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in combination with additional 2 years of relevant working experience in fundraising or development work may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Work Experience:Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in partnership management and fundraising.
- The post requires extensive international experience and in-depth knowledge of effective, multi-cultural relationship management.
- Skills: Excellent presentation and writing skills are required.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.
Desirables:
- Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Experience working with NatComs and in the UN system is an asset.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
