The opportunity
Join us as an R&D Engineer Materials & Sustainability and become part of a passionate and diverse team driving the energy transition. We are seeking a Materials Scientist/Engineer with experience in sustainability topics to strengthen our expertise in sustainable materials. In this role, you will employ and further broaden your technical know-how to tackle complex materials challenges, ensuring excellent quality, improved sustainability and best customer experience of the next generation of High Voltage Products.
How you’ll make an impact

Take ownership of diverse materials-related sustainability tasks applying your technical expertise and independent problem-solving skills, e.g. performing and generating primary data for life cycle assessments, assessing and improving circularity and sustainability of our products, implementing best practices in eco-design into our R&D processes

Contribute to R&D projects with interdisciplinary project teams, ensuring alignment with project stakeholders, timelines, budgets and quality standards

Understand key business drivers and use this insight to deliver impactful results aligned with Hitachi Energy’s goals

Contribute innovative ideas and propose new initiatives within your technical domain

Collaborate effectively with colleagues in different functions, including R&D, sustainability, and supply chain management

Document your achievements in tutorials, guidelines, test procedures and reports
Your background
-
Master’s degree or equivalent degree (university of applied science/university) in material science/engineering or closely related subject

Experience in sustainability topics such as lifecycle assessments, eco-design, or regulatory aspects

Team player with the capacity to work independently, complemented by good analytical and communication skills

Openness for new challenges and interest to learn and develop

Fluency in English, basic German skills or willingness to learn German
