Advice and Support

In addition to our work at the three locations, we offer a wide range of advice and support for individuals, families and institutions that accompany children or adults with autism or other perception and information processing difficulties. Increased need for structure and pronounced challenging behaviour are also central topics where we provide support.

We offer tailored guidance in dealing with people who display challenging behaviour. This includes services such as socio-pedagogical family support, individual advice for relatives, schools and institutions. We inform, observe and advise. We work systemically, solution-oriented and with the help of various specific tools and methods. Detailed information about our various services can be found in the sections below.

Socio-pedagogical family support

Socio-pedagogical family assistance supports families in their homes with everyday challenges. It is called upon for questions about upbringing and difficulties in coping with daily life. Through the support of a professional in socio-pedagogical family assistance, the family is supported and strengthened.

This service is aimed at parents of children with autism or other perception and information processing difficulties as well as referring agencies such as social services, child protection authorities or other services.

Possible stressful challenges in the family may be:

Your child

• injures themselves or others
• withdraws more and more
• refuses school
• barely allows a regulated daily life
• has great difficulty with new situations
• cannot express their wishes
• does not understand demands
• gets angry and frustrated quickly
• is not age-appropriately independent

In an initial phase, we define goals for the collaboration together. In the further course, we discuss and reflect on the challenges in everyday life and initiate changes. This way, we strengthen families and support you in adapting the living environment of children and adolescents to their needs.

Individual advisory services for individuals and families

Your child or the person you accompany has special needs? An autism spectrum disorder has been diagnosed or you feel stressed or overwhelmed in the support? We offer advice and support.

We discuss challenges in everyday life together and initiate changes. We support and strengthen you in adapting the living environment of children, adolescents or adults to their needs.

In an initial conversation, we clarify your needs and expectations. Then we plan the next steps together. The following elements may be included for support:

• Observations of everyday situations with subsequent feedback
• Consultation talks on questions from everyday life
• Information talks on the ASD diagnosis

Individual advisory services for schools and institutions

Children, adolescents and adults with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other perception and information processing difficulties have special needs. The challenge is to create an environment that promotes needs and development and to favour individual development opportunities.

We support professionals who work with people who require special support or display challenging behaviour. Our offer is aimed at mainstream schools, special education schools and socio-pedagogical institutions.

We offer the following services:

• Transfer of autism-specific basics, knowledge about the peculiarities of perception and information processing
• Raising awareness of the individual needs of children, adolescents and adults and their particularities in communication
• Further development of teaching, suitable structures and support
• Joint analysis and reflection of educational situations
• Imparting knowledge and techniques for crisis intervention
• Encouraging and jointly finding solutions for challenging situations
• Showing development opportunities and jointly working out individual scopes for design

In an initial conversation, we clarify your needs and then plan the next steps together. The following elements may be included for support:

• Observation with subsequent feedback
• Consultation talks on educational questions and measures and on the design of the living environment
• Training of staff

Advisory team

Nina Bühler

Nina Bühler is a social pedagogue and deals with the topics of ASD and other perception and information processing peculiarities. In various positions complemented by specific further training, she has dealt with countless case examples. Passing on knowledge as well as individually accompanying and encouraging clients are among her core competencies. It is very important to her to strengthen people in their abilities and resources and to find suitable strategies.

Fabienne Fritschi-Kuoni

Fabienne Fritschi-Kuoni is a social pedagogue and has been working with the children and adolescents of our foundation since 2012 and as a consultant since 2017. With further training in the areas of autism spectrum disorder and counselling, she brings sound expertise as well as diverse, practical experience in supporting families and professionals. Her work is characterised by a broad view of contexts and a sensitive sense for individual life situations.

Basic knowledge on the topic

Here we provide you with knowledge on the topic of autism and other perception and information processing difficulties. This section is under development and will be gradually supplemented.

The Ilgenhalde Foundation has created an 18-page brochure with initial information on the topic of autism for professionals, families, relatives.
