Water and ice are our passion at the Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology (VAW) in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zurich. We research and teach in hydraulic engineering and glaciology at the interface of water use, natural hazard protection, and ecology. Our trained engineers analyze problems and deficits in these areas and develop sustainable technical solutions.
Job description
For our Hydraulic Engineering professorship, we are looking for the VAW teaching coordination team (VAW-LK) immediately or by arrangement for a technical teaching coordinator who supports and further develops the teaching of the Hydraulic Engineering professorship. Your tasks include, among others:
- Technical supervision and further development of lectures and other courses in hydraulic and river engineering in German and English
- Content revision of lecture materials
- Didactic revision of course structures, especially with regard to the project ‘Examinations and Academic Calendar at ETH’ (PAKETH)
- Technical planning, quality assurance, correction, and grading of exams and other performance assessments
- Conducting lecture exercises and occasional representation of the professorship in lectures
- Preparation and supervision of bachelor, project, and master theses in exchange with external partners
- Introduction of suitable genAI applications in teaching
- Acquisition of Innovedum projects (initiatives that qualitatively and sustainably develop teaching at ETH)
Profile
- You have a master's degree in civil or environmental engineering (or equivalent) with a specialization in hydraulic engineering and ideally initial teaching experience (e.g., as an assistant or tutor) and/or practical experience.
- You are an open and communicative personality, like to take initiative, and enjoy working with students and staff in an expert organization.
- Your ability to take responsibility and to network and contribute within a team benefits your daily work.
- You communicate fluently in German and English.
- In addition, you have strong planning and organizational skills, work precisely, efficiently, independently, and with a high service orientation.
- You are committed to high-quality university teaching and develop it professionally and didactically with us.
