Social Workers for the Protection of Minors

As a social worker within a Regional Office for the Protection of Minors (ORPM), you assess the living conditions of minors and propose appropriate support measures. Depending on the situation, you request and inform the child protection judicial authorities. Your mission is concretely part of protecting minors at risk in their development.

To contribute to the important mission of protecting minors and to meet the growing mandates entrusted to the Directorate General for Childhood and Youth, we are currently seeking several social workers for the protection of minors (ASPM) to complete the teams of our various offices. Each social worker is attached to a single office. Please specify the desired workplace, contract type, and activity rate in your cover letter.

• Carry out the protection mission by assessing the living conditions of minors and proposing appropriate support measures while managing around sixty socio-educational interventions for minors and their families.
• Participate in the organisation of the Regional Office for the Protection of Minors (on-call duty, conferences, duo collaboration for certain situations, working groups, etc.) and in meetings organised by the service (plenary, working groups, etc.).
• Appear at court hearings as an expert.
• Maintain and develop skills continuously, according to the requirements set by the service and personal needs validated by the hierarchy.

• Holder of a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised social school of the HES type (social work stream) or a university degree (Bachelor or Master), deemed useful for the job;
• SEFRI recognition required for foreign diplomas;
• Good knowledge in child development and family issues, as well as legal knowledge in family law;
• Ability to conduct difficult interviews and manage conflictual relationships, particularly in the context of compulsory assistance;
• Adaptability, flexibility and stress management;
• High-level analytical, synthesis and writing skills;
• Knowledge of the Vaud network related to the protection of minors, the decision-making system, evaluation tools in child protection, organisation and legal standards;
• Category B driving licence required and use of a private vehicle planned as part of the activity.

A monthly allowance for the use of a private vehicle is paid.
