Since March 2024, Caritas Switzerland has been operating asylum centers for families, individuals, and unaccompanied minors (MNA) at various locations in the canton of Zurich on behalf of the cantonal social office (KSA). On January 1, 2026, and on a temporary basis, we opened a transit center in Winterthur. The center offers space for up to 100 asylum seekers. It is located in an underground facility that meets current requirements for safety, infrastructure, and protection. The premises are functional and purposefully designed to create as pleasant and structured an environment as possible for the residents.
For care in the health department, we are looking for employees who are willing to take responsibility and who commit themselves with professional competence and empathy to the well-being of our clients. We offer you a varied activity in a motivated team, modern work equipment, and regular working hours from Monday to Friday during usual office hours.
Your tasks
- Medical advice, care, and intervention in physical and mental health issues
- Preventive health education on nutrition, hygiene, sexuality, substance abuse
- Networking and collaboration with doctors, therapists, and external specialist agencies
- Organization of admission documents for doctors, therapists, and external specialist agencies
- Organization of vaccinations according to the Swiss vaccination plan (BAG guidelines)
- Appointment coordination and control with doctors, therapists, and external specialist agencies
- Responsibility for health administration (health admission and discharge interviews, invoice control and forwarding of treatment and medication costs to administration and health insurance, creation and issuance of medical cost approvals and insurance certificates, documentation tutor)
Our requirements
- Completed training as a certified nursing specialist HF / FH
- Conflict, team, and intercultural communication skills, empathy, social competence
- Initiative, independence, and a high level of work organization
- Impeccable reputation
- Very good German skills, additional foreign language skills are an advantage
- Very good computer and Microsoft Office skills
- High sense of responsibility, hygiene, and quality awareness
- High resilience and ability to cope with stress
- Intercultural competence
