Job Description
Within the General Directorate of the Environment (DGE), the Forest Division (DGE-FOREST) ensures the conservation, sustainable management and enhancement of the forests of Vaud. It works to preserve biodiversity, protect against natural hazards, sustainably produce timber and maintain forest infrastructure, while ensuring public access and implementing cantonal forest policy.
Responsibilities
- Carry out, under the direction of forest rangers and foremen, maintenance work on the cantonal forests of the 2nd district located in the municipalities of Aigle, Ollon, Gryon, Bex and Lavey-Morcles, so that they sustainably fulfil their functions, notably economic (timber production), protective (natural hazards), environmental (biodiversity and landscape) and social (reception).
- Participate in all work ordered by the respective forest rangers in the forest massifs of the cantonal forests of the 2nd district.
- Carry out all maintenance work on the cantonal forests within the framework of forest protection and conservation, respecting health and safety regulations at work.
- Participate in the training of apprentices under the supervision of the forest ranger (company trainer) and the foreman or forester responsible for workplace training.
Participate in the development and maintenance of forest infrastructure and buildings owned by the State of Vaud under the responsibility of the respective yards.

Qualifications
- Federal Certificate of Competence (CFC) as forester·er lumberjack·er
- Desired professional experience of 2 years in carrying out work within a public or private company
- Heightened awareness of workplace safety issues and ability to integrate into a small team
- Interest in apprentice training required
- Motivated, persevering
- Sense of responsibility and public service ethics
- Driving licence required
