Relief Worker, fixed-term 80 - 100%The Department of Justice and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe and, with 399 places, the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, is responsible for the resocialisation of incarcerated persons and the protection of the public.
For the area of Economy & Work, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for a flexible, resilient and eager-to-learn person with strong social skills and an interest in the penal system. The position is limited to two years.
Your tasks
- Supporting our foremen/women in varied and diverse activities in the work operations
- Taking on responsible security, control and supervisory duties as well as ensuring smooth operational processes
- Supervising and guiding incarcerated persons at various workplaces with the aim of promoting their personal and professional skills
- Providing work materials and carrying out quality controls to ensure careful and timely execution of tasks
- Creating a safe and structured environment for incarcerated persons, employees and external partners
- Active teamwork and shared responsibility for safety within the framework of emergency management
Your profile
- Completed technical-craft training and several years of professional experience in this field
- Ideally, you have experience in leading employees or supervising apprentices
- Very good German language skills, both spoken and written, as well as solid IT user knowledge are required; foreign language skills are a plus
- With a quick grasp and high willingness to learn, you quickly familiarise yourself with new areas of responsibility
- You convince through team spirit, resilience and flexibility and keep an overview even in demanding situations
- A minimum age of 25 years and an impeccable record complete your profile
