The Department of Women, Children and Adolescents is tasked with providing quality care tailored to the needs of women at every stage of their lives and addressing the health issues faced by newborns, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 16. It works on developing cutting-edge services and specialty competence centres.

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service (SPEA) manages hospital care in day hospital or outpatient settings for children and adolescents suffering from mental disorders. It provides holistic psychological and child psychiatric care, considering the patient as a whole, including their family and social network. SPEA is a category A training centre for postgraduate medical education.

The service occupies the new premises of the House of Childhood and Adolescence (MEA), which brings together all the service units in a particularly welcoming environment, specifically designed to improve the quality of care for the most vulnerable young patients.

Job Description

You will join the Malatavie-Crisis Unit team, which offers crisis follow-up for 1-18 year olds presenting suicidal risk and who can engage in specific care.

You contribute to the reception and orientation work for adolescents and young adults who have suicidal thoughts and significant distress (reception and orientation interviews, suicide risk assessment, responding to the Adolescent Helpline, replying to requests received by email, and answering questions posed by young people on the topic of suicide via the platforms Ciao.ch and ontecoute.ch).

As a psychologist in the Prevention team, you participate in supervisions, various meetings, and present clinical cases to your colleagues.

You also work closely with the Geneva network.

You contribute to the preparation of the activity report for Malatavie-Crisis Unit.

You have experience co-facilitating therapeutic groups.

You can provide teaching and training on the subject of suicide risk prevention.

Qualifications

You hold a MAS in psychotherapy (or have been in the MAS training process for at least one year) or an equivalent qualification.

You have experience and interest in the clinical management of suicide risk in adolescents and a good knowledge of the Geneva care network.

You are well acquainted with the work and organisation of Malatavie Prevention.

You know how to assess suicide risk and have experience in therapeutic interviews enabling you to conduct individual sessions with adolescents, young adults, and their parents.

You are able to handle telephone and written responses.

You can cope with stress and have good teamwork skills.
