Volunteers for the Reception and Waiting Area

The University Animal Hospital Zurich is a leader in veterinary medicine and makes a significant daily contribution to the care of sick and injured animals from all over Switzerland and neighboring countries.

From January 2023, a team of volunteers will complement the professional medical care of our animal patients and support our pet owners.

We are now looking for additional support.

Volunteers for the reception and waiting area

two to four half days per month

Would you like to use part of your time meaningfully for animal lovers?

The reception is our business card and the first point of contact for our customers and referring veterinarians.

To make the arrival and waiting time at the small animal clinic easier for pet owners, we are looking for volunteers who enjoy the following activities:

• General interaction with customers. Empathetic conversation with pet owners who are often in emotionally difficult situations and are grateful for a listening ear.
• General support of customers, e.g., accompaniment; organizing those waiting in the waiting room, operating vending machines, etc.

Requirements

• Understanding of the local dialect, fluent German, any foreign language is an advantage
• Empathy, teamwork, reliability, polite manners, tolerance
• Neat appearance, good health, and enjoyment of encounters with people and animals
• Willingness to work regularly

Our volunteer team is mainly deployed to support our customers. Trained caregivers are responsible for supporting the treatment and/or care of our animal patients.

The workload includes two to four half days per month. The dates are set monthly.
