In order to sustainably strengthen its research, infrastructure and strategic initiatives, Eawag is expanding its institutional fundraising activities. As part of this approach and the development of long-term partnerships with foundations and other funding bodies, we are looking for a committed person for the position of:

Would you like to contribute to the development of fundraising activities at a renowned environmental research institute? As an institute within the ETH Domain, Eawag offers a unique opportunity to develop and structure institutional fundraising in a collaborative, meaningful and forward-looking environment. In this role, you identify the most relevant funding opportunities and develop sustainable partnerships with foundations, institutional funding bodies, philanthropic partners and a targeted number of major donors. In close collaboration with researchers, management and the Communications department, you prepare compelling funding proposals that clearly and attractively highlight Eawag’s scientific strengths and strategic objectives for funding partners.

This position offers a high degree of responsibility and autonomy, as well as the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of Eawag’s fundraising activities and strategic partnerships.

Your tasks

• Conduct strategic monitoring, analyse and identify potential funding partners, especially foundations and major private donors.
• Evaluate research projects with regard to their philanthropic and institutional funding potential.
• Work closely with researchers to develop funding dossiers tailored to different target audiences, including funding cases, funding applications and progress reports.
• Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with funding partners and donors, contribute to acquiring new partners and ensure the follow-up of partnerships throughout the funding cycle.
• Manage administrative processes related to fundraising, including funding contracts, payment tracking and data management in the CRM system.
• In close collaboration with the Communications department, plan and coordinate visits and events for current and potential funding partners, and produce fundraising-specific content for Eawag’s various communication channels.

Your qualifications

• You have at least five years of professional experience in fundraising, ideally in fundraising with foundations, institutional bodies or major donors.
• You have demonstrated your ability to prepare convincing funding applications as well as to develop and maintain sustainable funding partnerships.
• You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong service orientation. You know how to build trustful relationships with internal and external stakeholders and collaborate effectively with different research groups.
• You work in a structured and autonomous manner and have excellent organisational skills.
• You show a strong interest in scientific topics, particularly in environmental research; experience in research, higher education, environmental sustainability or health is an asset.
• You are comfortable with common digital tools, including CRM systems.
• You have excellent command of German or French and good knowledge of the other language. You possess excellent English skills, enabling you to negotiate with ease.
