About the job
The municipality of Zermatt has around 6,000 inhabitants. It is one of the largest tourist municipalities in the Alpine region. A staff of around 170 people ensures the extensive public service.
We are looking for a committed and nature-oriented person to join our municipality's ranger team from May 1, 2026, or by arrangement. As a ranger, you are the visible interface between nature and people, tourism, flora and fauna, thus making an important contribution to the sustainable development of our municipal area. You are the direct contact person for locals, visitors, and service partners and align the values of nature, culture, and tourism through your work.
Your area of responsibility
- Raising users' awareness of environmentally friendly behavior
- Monitoring and protecting the flora and fauna in the municipal area
- Observing natural hazards and controlling the hiking trail network
- Communication with users and service partners
- Participation in the planning of new or adjusted hiking trails and snowshoe trails
Your skills
- Training as a ranger (educational course BZW Lyss) or willingness to complete it
- Familiarity with the mountain world of Zermatt and surroundings as well as good knowledge of topographical and geographical features
- Communicative person with skill in dealing with people
- Willingness to work irregular hours
- Foreign language skills and IT knowledge (Office) desired
