As the fifth largest canton in Switzerland with around 6000 employees, we at the cantonal administration are committed to the common good of society. The Rhine Company is responsible on behalf of the Canton of St. Gallen for flood protection on the largest torrent in Europe between Bad Ragaz and Rüthi. In doing so, we make a central contribution to the protection of the population, infrastructure, and landscape in the Rhine Valley.
Extensive maintenance and renovation work is currently being carried out on the existing protective structures. At the same time, the redesign of a flood protection system over 100 years old is underway. With these projects, we are shaping the future of the Rhine Valley for coming generations. The planning and implementation are carried out in close cooperation with the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Canton of Graubünden, and the federal state of Vorarlberg.
