About the job
Data Governance Specialist fixed-term, 80 - 100%The Health Directorate ensures a high-quality and economically sustainable healthcare provision in the Canton of Zurich. It guarantees seamless medical treatment and care and promotes the health of the Zurich population.
Data is the foundation of good decisions — in administration as well as elsewhere. For the introduction of the cantonal Data Governance Framework in the Health Directorate, we are looking for a Data Governance Specialist, 80-100%, from 1 January 2027, fixed-term until 31 December 2028.
Your tasks
- Implement a cantonal Data Governance Framework in collaboration with the Data Governance management in the offices and the General Secretariat of the Health Directorate.
- Proactively identify gaps and propose solutions within the existing governance framework.
- Governance support: You assist Data Owners and Data Stewards, moderate decision-making and coordination processes, and guide them through governance workflows.
- Prepare and conduct workshops and presentations for various stakeholders, mostly without prior data governance knowledge, coordinate exchange formats.
- Coordinate and track contributions from offices and departments — you keep an overview of who has already delivered, what is still outstanding, and ensure nothing is left undone.
- Contribute to the development of best practices, strategies, policies, standards, and process documentation.
Your profile
- You have practical experience with data, for example as a Data Analyst, Data Steward, or in a comparable role with data-related responsibility.
- You have a strong understanding of data structures, data quality, and tools, and enjoy delving into data modelling.
- You have already worked within a Data Governance Framework — a formal title is not required; what matters is understanding how governance works in practice.
- You work in a structured, careful, and independent manner; you recognise what needs to be done and do not wait for someone else to initiate it.
- Analytical thinking: You quickly grasp complex relationships, think in networks, and present facts clearly and understandably.
- You communicate clearly and persuasively at all hierarchical levels — also to an audience without a technical background; you can make a topic understandable and engage people.
Our offer
An interesting, varied, and challenging role with scope for creativity at the interface between data and specialised health topics with growing strategic importance in public administration.
A collegial working environment, flexible working hours with the possibility of home office, and a modern workplace near Zurich main station.
