CISTEC Customer Conference 2024 – AI is written in capital letters

On 5 September 2024, this year’s customer conference took place in the auditorium of the Balgrist University Hospital. We were pleased to welcome a full house and over 160 guests. In the morning, alongside the latest product developments and presentation of new module features of KISIM, the focus was on the topic of "AI".

Prof. Dr Marc Pouly (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts) brought us closer to the future of the latest AI technology and its areas of application in his lecture "AI Vision" and illustrated with everyday situations how AI will further influence our future. Jonas Stulz (CISTEC) then showed in which KISIM modules and areas AI is already in use and where the AI-KISIM journey is headed in the future. Pierre Corboz (Voicepoint) presented the new speech recognition app Xenon, which was specially developed for the Swiss market. Xenon understands all Swiss dialects including German, French and English and has a medical vocabulary. Thus, Xenon can be used in all medical specialist areas, whether in the consultation, emergency or care. And the best part is, Xenon is directly integrated into KISIM.

"Our goal is to develop KISIM to be as user-friendly as possible, with our UX team playing a central role," said Memi Beltrame (CISTEC). In his short lecture, he presented the UX strategy, ongoing projects and the new KISIM newsletter. The last two specialist lectures illustrated two customer projects. On the one hand, Patrik Balser (trifact) presented the latest developments regarding the digital patient call at the bed-side terminal and, on the other hand, Gregorio Uglioni and Uwe Schmidt-Zinges (KSW) gave an insight into their project "Fair Play: Coding with AI". Humorous and wonderfully to the point, Jonas Raeber (live cartoonist) summarised the lectures for the participants and explained to us that AI should not be confused with the car registration plate for Appenzell Innerrhoden 😊.

In the afternoon, our module market stands were presented and the CISTEC specialists gave deeper insights into KISIM subject areas. In parallel, tours of the new OR-X took place, the surgical research and teaching centre with simulation operating theatres of the latest generation. There is the opportunity to train operations or to test new medical technology and devices.
