Senior Physician in Liaison Psychiatry at SPPAN
The Department of Psychiatry at CHUV is looking for a senior physician for its General Liaison Psychiatry Unit (UPL) of the Northern Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Service (SPPAN), at a workload between 60% - 80%, starting August 1, 2026.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Northern Liaison Psychiatry (UPL) is a Postgraduate Training Institution (EFP) recognized by the Swiss Institute for Medical Training (ISFM) as a training site for consultation-liaison psychiatry and psychotherapy (maximum category), as well as for psychiatry and psychotherapy (category A).
The UPL consists of a multidisciplinary team organized around two clinical and training activity centers: general consultation-liaison activity and specialized consultation-liaison activity.
The general consultation-liaison activity (for older adolescents, adults, and elderly patients) extends to the main somatic hospitals of Northern Vaud and Broye: the eHnv of Yverdon-les-Bains, St-Loup and Orbe, the Intercantonal Hospital of Broye in Payerne (HIB), and the acute care hospital of the Jura Balcony Health Network (RSBJ) in Ste-Croix.
The specialized consultation-liaison activity is carried out in psychosomatic outpatient consultations (functional neurological disorders, psycho-oncology and palliative care, obesity and bariatric surgery), as well as in structured support for intra-hospital care teams.
Mission
- You autonomously lead all clinical activities of the General Liaison Psychiatry Unit
- You ensure the institutional development of outpatient psychosomatic consultations (psycho-oncology, pain management, perinatal care, functional and somatoform neurological disorders) in collaboration with partners from the general hospitals of Northern Vaud served by Northern Liaison Psychiatry
- You provide backup for the Deputy Physician responsible for Northern Liaison Psychiatry in strategic and decision-making institutional bodies
- You actively contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education of staff in the general and specialized liaison units
- You ensure the leadership and management of staff in the general and specialized liaison units, in close collaboration with the Deputy Physician responsible for SPPAN Liaison Psychiatry and the EFP PliNO.
Profile
- You hold an FMH specialist title in psychiatry and psychotherapy (or an equivalent title recognized by MEBEKO)
- You have completed advanced training in liaison psychiatry
- You hold, or are in the process of obtaining, a medical doctorate (with commitment to obtain it within three years if applicable)
- You have completed management training and have proven skills in leading multidisciplinary teams
- You possess strong analytical and synthesis skills, as well as a developed sense of planning, organization, and management
- You are solution-oriented, with decision-making, initiative, and action capabilities
- For non-French-speaking candidates, you have excellent oral and written French skills, minimum level C1 (certificate required).
