Employee in Care and Security Service / Specialist in Personal Security 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, as well as the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Bachtel Enforcement Centre (VZB) is one of the enforcement facilities of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialised in the open enforcement of custodial and substitute custodial sentences. The VZB offers accommodation for over 90 detainees.
To strengthen the Care and Security Service (BSD), we are looking for a flexible personality to start immediately or by arrangement.
Your tasks
- Accompanying and caring for detainees to prevent detention-related harm
- Planning and conducting security training for the institution’s employees as well as participating in the PSI project group
- Leading internal crisis interventions
- Maintaining order and security for detainees, employees and third parties
- Maintaining the health of detainees and accompanying them to external agencies
- Operating the security centre and monitoring locking systems (inside and outside) as well as operating the telephone switchboard with overview and reliability
- Receiving visitors and conducting gift, effects and X-ray checks as well as providing trustworthy care for inmates and visitors, including recognising and managing crisis situations
- Careful completion of administrative tasks to support smooth operations
- Interdisciplinary, cross-departmental collaboration with employees and third parties working for the enforcement centre
Your profile
- Completed training with a federal certificate of competence, (specialist) matriculation, specialised middle school certificate or equivalent qualification; ideally complemented by several years of experience in a care-related role
- Additional training in the field of personal security
- Professional handling of proximity and distance in contact with detainees; high social competence as well as pronounced assertiveness
- You are mentally resilient and able to accommodate changing working hours (shift, night, weekend and public holiday duties) alongside your other commitments
- You can express yourself very well in written and spoken German and have knowledge of other languages. You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
- You are at least 25 years old and have an impeccable record (no entries in the criminal or debt registers)
- Willingness to provide cross-departmental support in other departments of the VZB in case of personnel shortages
