In this key role, you are responsible for central data platforms, drive their further development, and work on solutions that are crucial for the daily operation and the digital future of the company. You take on technical responsibility, actively shape architectures, and are an important sparring partner for departments, projects, and IT teams.

Job Description

• You are responsible for the design, engineering, and operation of central data platforms based on Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB, and Oracle, including monitoring and lifecycle management.
• You develop robust system architectures and technical solution designs and define the necessary resources for them.
• You lead technical projects and further developments and ensure their successful implementation regarding quality, deadlines, and budget.
• You advise internal stakeholders on architecture, security, performance, and operational issues concerning the database landscape.
• You analyse existing environments and ensure their continuous optimisation and modernisation.
• You work closely with internal and external partners to ensure stable, secure, and highly available operations.
• You support the team with your open and solution-oriented approach and actively contribute to positive collaboration.
• You share on-call duties for the supported platforms together with the team.
• You also contribute to integration projects with Kafka and IBM webMethods ESB as needed.

We Expect

• Completed higher education in computer science, systems engineering, or a comparable field at HF, FH, or higher level.
• Several years of experience in building, operating, and further developing highly available Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Solid knowledge in AlwaysOn, performance tuning, security, upgrades, and disaster recovery.
• Practical experience with T-SQL and PowerShell.
• Knowledge of MySQL, MariaDB, or Oracle environments is an advantage.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Interest in modern data architectures and integration solutions.
• Analytical thinking, independent working style, and high quality orientation.
• Very good German skills as well as good English skills.
