Senior Physician within the Outpatient Unit for Reception and Brief Interventions
The General Psychiatry Service (PGE) of the Psychiatry Department of CHUV (DP-CHUV) is seeking a senior physician at an 80% activity rate for the Outpatient Unit for Reception and Brief Interventions. The starting date is planned for 1 November 2026 or to be agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The General Psychiatry Service provides psychiatric care for the adult population (18 to 65 years) of the Lausanne agglomeration. Organised into specialised sections, it has 95 acute care beds at the Cery site and outpatient consultations in the city centre, to best meet the needs of users and partners in the care network.
The Outpatient Unit for Reception and Brief Interventions welcomes people with psychological difficulties wishing to benefit from a specialised assessment, as well as patients referred by their primary care physician for a consultation, crisis follow-up, or therapeutic orientation. It notably includes consultations intended for students and young adults in training.
The services offered include: brief crisis interventions according to the brief psychodynamic intervention (BPI) model, diagnostic investigations, interviews with relatives, couple or family interviews, psychological and social assessments, development of treatment plans, and indications for psychotherapy.
When necessary, specialised longer-term care is organised in collaboration with the care network.
Mission
- You ensure medical responsibility, management, and daily clinical activities of the various consultations of the unit in collaboration with the senior physician responsible for the unit
- You supervise the unit's physicians in collaboration with the senior physician responsible for the unit
- You carry out clinical activities within the unit
- You handle administrative activities related to the aforementioned clinical activity
- You participate in teaching and training conducted within the unit
- You assist the unit manager in setting up new procedures or strategies and managing existing structures
- You collaborate on research projects and contribute to the promotion of academic and clinical junior staff.
Profile
- You hold an FMH title in psychiatry and psychotherapy (for holders of foreign diplomas, MEBEKO recognition of these is required)
- You have obtained your thesis or are in the process of obtaining it
- You have experience as a chief resident (ideally for 5 years) in outpatient and/or adult hospital psychiatry
- You have experience in crisis work
- You have an interest in research
- You possess leadership skills
- You are proficient in French (minimum C1)
- You have an interest in financial, administrative, and HR management.
