Carpenter Apprenticeship Every summer, at least one apprentice begins training as a carpenter at Frank Türen AG. A vocational trainer and a practical trainer per department ensure that our apprentices successfully complete the four-year training to become a certified carpenter EFZ Construction/Windows and can start working with a solid foundation. Carpenter Training Plan Learn here what to expect as a carpenter apprentice at Frank Türen AG during the four-year apprenticeship, in the respective semesters. 1st Semester * Acquire general carpenter knowledge (wood types, panel materials, tools, screw types) * Simple manual carpentry work such as finishing profiles, breaking edges, gluing edges, sanding * Machine safety training and first operation of the band saw 2nd Semester * Get to know and install simple fittings * Assist with material preparation in the fittings warehouse * Learn to use general hand machines * Simple work with the handheld router, circular saw, edge sanding machine * Know solid wood types and cut with the cutting machine * Slot and chisel frame constructions with the band saw * Learn to use the dowel machine and planer * Assist with transport and component logistics on the construction site * Machine training on the circular saw and first independent use 3rd Semester * Read simple plans * Create templates with handheld router * Learn to use veneer press and glue application machine * Perform occupational safety and simple rabbet work under supervision * Deepen knowledge of panel cutting and apply it * Learn about varnishes and mixing ratios * Manual varnishing, spraying, intermediate sanding 4th Semester * Read and interpret plans * Independently maintain hand machines * Assemble carcasses, electrical fronts, and drawers * Single-glass work in the bench room * Machine training and use of the rabbet machine * Operate wide belt sander for calibration and fine sanding * Professionally load and secure transport vehicles 5th Semester * Create construction sketches * Install fittings * Learn specific safety door fittings with electrical components * Assemble door elements * Learn types of cup hinges including base plates and stops * Independently perform solid wood cutting * Assist with profile machine * Learn tools and aids for assembly * Perform simple assembly work and instructions, create silicone joints, insert sealing strips 6th Semester * Independently plan and create a workpiece as part of exam preparation * Partial exam at the ÜK center in Sarnen * Assist with measurements on the construction site * Create material lists manually and on the PC * Rebating door frames * Machine the casing * Recognize correct veneering, joining, and storage * Assist with CN- and CNC-controlled machines 7th Semester * Independently handle order processing * Create material lists for own customer orders * Simple milling work on frame parts and door leaves * Independently operate edge gluing machine * Profiling on profile machine 8th Semester * IPA registration and execution * Independently assemble frames, casings, hinged and sliding doors * Independently assemble riser zone claddings (post-and-beam) * Independently perform CNC milling work Current Carpenter Apprentices Application as a Carpenter Apprentice Dejan Stoimenov from Buochs, apprentice supervisor at Frank Türen AG, has been our vocational trainer for carpenter apprentices for years. Our promise to our carpenter apprentices After successfully completing the apprenticeship as a certified carpenter EFZ, the employee can decide whether he/she wants to work with us as a skilled worker in a permanent position. We adhere to the current guidelines of the VSSM Association of Swiss Master Carpenters and Furniture Manufacturers for the apprenticeship contract. Success story of Dejan Stoimenov From apprentice to production manager Dejan Stoimenov already got a taste of Frank Türen AG during school. He was so enthusiastic about the family business that he spent several holiday weeks in the Frank workshop before starting his apprenticeship 20 years ago. Meanwhile, he has realized his dream and worked his way up from bench carpenter to machinist, project manager, and production manager. "Ernst Frank already predicted to me at a young age that he could well imagine a career in the office for me. And now I am just one step below management," says Dejan with justified pride. Making something big out of something small. That is Dejan's motto. "I am strong-willed and ambitious. In addition, I am a good listener and always find a solution," says the family man from Buochs. Family with two children means a lot to him, leaving little time for hobbies. The workday is long and starts for him at 6 a.m. Then it goes quickly, and he meets with the foremen for the morning briefing. "I am happy and want to maintain the current level and also pass it on to others," adds Dejan. He also appreciates the good working atmosphere and is grateful to Frank for always supporting and challenging him. Dejan, the hobby DJ, who today prefers to spend time with his children rather than playing techno beats underground all night.
