Research Officer for the Paediatric Cardiology Unit

The Paediatrics Service of the Women-Mother-Child Department (DFME) is seeking a research officer at a workload of 70% to 80%. The starting date is scheduled for 1 September 2026 or to be agreed.

Context

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.

The Women-Mother-Child Department (DFME) brings together the Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Neonatology, Paediatrics and Paediatric Surgery Services. More than 1,500 professionals work daily to care for women and children, from birth to adolescence.

As part of an international study in paediatric cardiology, you will contribute to the research project "Repurposing of empagliflozin for paediatric heart failure", which evaluates an innovative treatment in children aged 6 months to 18 years with heart failure. This multicentre, randomised international study plans to include 120 patients in 15 centres across 5 countries.

Mission

• You support the Chief Investigator and Co-Chief Investigator in finalising the study protocol as well as in submissions to ethics committees and competent authorities of the participating countries
• You prepare contracts with partner sites and institutions, in collaboration with the DFME Clinical Research Unit, CHUV Legal Affairs, the Sponsor's Office and the Clinical Research Centre
• You ensure study coordination: document management, centre openings, recruitment monitoring, data verification and query management, site visits, safety monitoring, reporting to authorities and ethics committees, preparation of preliminary financial reports and support to the Data Safety Monitoring Board.

Profile

• You hold a Bachelor (minimum requirement), Master or equivalent degree in human or veterinary medicine, pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, life sciences, biology, biomedical sciences, nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical research, biomedical engineering, health data science or a related field
• You have good knowledge of the ethical principles of clinical research
• You have experience in managing clinical studies as well as in submissions to ethics committees and competent authorities
• You are proficient in French and/or German as well as English, both spoken and written (minimum level C1)
• Experience in academic (universities, hospitals) and/or private (pharmaceutical industry) sectors is an asset
• You have an interest in clinical research in paediatrics, paediatric cardiology, heart failure and/or clinical pharmacology
• You demonstrate rigour, precision, excellent organisational skills and strong communication abilities
• You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary and multi-site team
• You are proficient with common IT tools (Microsoft Office)

Depending on the candidate's profile, the salary scale will be between level 9 and level 10.
