To complement its Municipal Police service, the Municipality of Plan-les-Ouates is seeking its future Sergeant.
Full-time position - Grade 15
Your mission:
- Implement the action plans and objectives defined by the Service Manager;
- Ensure the operation, activities, and services of the department;
- Coordinate the various operational activities and monitor the progress of work and task execution;
- Establish the schedules of the Municipal Police Officers (MPO) and ensure the planning of school patrols;
- Ensure the implementation of the policy regarding municipal prevention and security, enforcing federal, cantonal, and municipal legislation within the areas of competence defined by the cantonal regulation and applying the agreements signed by municipal authorities, as well as directives from the Public Prosecutor’s Office;
- Guarantee public peace and sanitation, as well as safety, according to available resources;
- Coordinate the organisation of inspections carried out by private contractors and follow up on their reports;
- Provide information to the public on the application of laws and regulations within the MPOs’ areas of competence;
- Coordinate actions with internal (other departments) and external partners;
- Ensure the smooth running of events according to available resources and participate in cross-departmental activities with other municipal services;
- In the absence of the Service Manager, act as deputy, respond to collaborators’ requests and disseminate information to them, notably through regular meetings, and communicate regularly with the Corporal.
- Also serve as Deputy Post Chief (DPC).
Your profile:
- You hold a certificate as an MPO or police officer or an equivalent qualification complemented by management training;
- You have worked in one or more areas of law enforcement in Switzerland for at least 5 years;
- You can demonstrate several years of professional experience as a sergeant or corporal with a level of responsibility similar to the proposed position;
- You have excellent writing skills and are proficient with common IT tools;
- You have a good knowledge of Geneva’s political institutions;
- You possess a strategic and analytical mind, good organisational skills, and strong anticipation abilities;
- You have excellent interpersonal skills, showing empathy and diplomacy;
- You are moderate and able to take a step back;
