About the job
Mechanical Assembler (M/F)
Context
Within the Engineering / Technology department, you join a team responsible for the assembly, installation and operational maintenance of the organisation's complex mechanical components. You take over from a colleague to ensure continuity of operations and ongoing projects.
Main tasksPrecision assembly and adjustment: Assemble, adjust and align complex mechanical sub-assemblies (superconducting magnets, RF cavities, vacuum chambers, detectors) respecting very tight tolerances (order of hundredths or microns).
On-site installation: Participate in the transfer, positioning and anchoring of equipment in the LHC tunnel or experimental caverns.
Maintenance and troubleshooting: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical subsystems during technical stops (Technical Stops / Shutdowns).
Basic inspection and metrology: Use precision measuring tools (micrometre, dial gauge, measuring arm) to validate assembly conformity.
Touch-ups and conventional machining: Carry out mechanical adjustments at the workbench or on conventional machines (milling, turning, drilling) if necessary.
Compliance with strict standards: Strictly apply ultra-high vacuum (UHV), cleanroom, cryogenics procedures and radiological safety instructions.
Qualifications
Desired profile
Education: Federal VET Diploma, Vocational Baccalaureate or BTS in precision mechanics, mechanical engineering or microtechnology.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in high-precision industrial mechanical assembly or machining/adjustment.
Technical skills:
Expert reading of mechanical drawings and mastery of functional dimensioning (ISO/GD&T).
Proficiency in working in clean environments (ultra-high vacuum, cleanroom).
Certifications for lifting equipment and overhead cranes (a real plus).
Languages: Proficiency in French or English, with operational ability to understand the other language (bilingual environment).
Attributes: Extreme rigour, team spirit, good physical condition (work in confined spaces) and great autonomy to quickly take over the vacant position.
Desired profile
Education: Level 5 / 6 in Mechanical Design (BTS CPI, BUT GMP or equivalent).
CAD skills: Confirmed mastery of CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE and good practice of AutoCAD.
Data management: Experience or knowledge of PDM SmartTeam is a significant asset.
Technical know-how: Solid knowledge of material strength, manufacturing processes (machining, boiler making/welding) and safety rules related to lifting.
Attributes: Methodical rigour, attention to detail and ability to work in a project team.
