About the job
The advantage of the utility cadastre recorded and maintained by the Geoinformatics team is that all utilities are digitally available in one document, including water, wastewater, electricity, gas, and even cable television lines (the available media vary depending on the municipality). They can be related to spatially relevant information – e.g. parcel boundaries – and can be displayed in different colours on a plan. This provides an optimal overview of the existing utilities in your residential area.

Thanks to the new professional profile of Geomatician, Werke am Zürichsee AG can now also offer an apprenticeship as a Geomatician EFZ with a focus on Geoinformatics.
The new focus on Geoinformatics arose from the reform of the vocational training of the Geomatician. The new training ordinance was issued by the Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology BBT on 7 October 2009 and the training plan approved. Since autumn 2010, apprenticeship seekers can choose the vocational training Geomatician EFZ with a focus on Geoinformatics for the first time. Various energy & water suppliers already offer corresponding positions. As the importance of geographic information systems for energy & water suppliers is continuously increasing, it is necessary for them to ensure the appropriate junior staff. In energy & water supply, knowledge of the exact course of underground utility lines is safety-relevant and forms the basis for further processes together with plant information. These data are collected in the field and then maintained in geographic information systems. The specialist departments can use this data to plan, maintain and operate the networks.
To complete a trial apprenticeship as a Geomatician (focus on Geoinformatics) at Werke am Zürichsee AG, we ask interested parties to submit a written application.
