Supervisor / Caregiver – Career Changers Welcome 80 - 100%With around 1400 employees, the Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is the largest office within the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the execution of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of offenders and are committed effectively and progressively to a safe and just society.
The Zurich Remand Prisons (UGZ) are one of eight main departments of JuWe. They comprise seven facilities with around 735 prison places and about 500 employees. They are responsible for provisional detention, investigative and security custody, as well as early penal and measure enforcement until transfer to a correctional facility. Thus, they fulfil a central function within the Zurich justice system from the outset.
As part of the UGZ, Zurich Prison specialises in remand detention for adult men and has 110 detention places.
As a supervisor / caregiver, you accompany detainees without prejudice during this difficult phase and contribute to ensuring that everyday prison life is safe and orderly. If loyalty, respect, consistency and teamwork characterise you, you will find your place with us at Zurich Prison.
This is how you shape everyday prison life
- Care and support of detainees: You ensure an orderly and safe daily routine and provide advice and guidance to the incarcerated persons
- Ensuring security: You monitor security installations and cameras and act calmly, purposefully and prudently in special situations
- Coordination of processes: You organise the movements of detainees and ensure smooth operation
- Administrative tasks: You document events, prepare reports and thus keep all processes transparent and comprehensible
- Design and development: You contribute ideas, show commitment and support the continuous improvement of our operation
What you bring with you
- Minimum age 25 years and an impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal and debt enforcement registers)
- Completed education: a federal vocational certificate, a (specialist) baccalaureate or a comparable qualification
- Good German skills in spoken and written form, additional language skills are an advantage
- Confident use of MS Office
- Flexibility for shift, weekend, night and special duties
- High resilience and ability to keep a cool head even in stressful situations
