The Department of Security and Justice (SJD) is the competence center for public safety in the canton of St. Gallen. It employs around 2000 staff who work in six different offices as well as in the General Secretariat. The General Secretariat provides central services for the entire department, including personnel, legal services, finance, IT, and real estate.
The Legal Service fulfills a variety of tasks as a staff unit in the General Secretariat, both in internal administrative legal matters and in the context of legislation by the Cantonal Council and government.
